BTS Canon Compliant Fest

General Info

BTS Canon Compliant Fest focuses on Canon Compliant settings.Canon Compliant is a term used to describe a fanfic's relationship to canon. It's applied to any fanfics that are not sent in an alternative universe. In this case canon is BTS real life events and timelines. We also allow Canon Divergent fanfics. Canon Divergence is a term used for fanfiction set in a universe that diverges relatively narrowly from canon, with a point of departure in a characters back story or even during canon. For example, we allow fics that feature omegaverse or hybrids, or fics where BTS disbands at some point in the future, but not fics where BTS never existed as an idol group. If you're still unsure what counts as Canon Compliant or Canon Divergent, why not check out existing fics under those tags to get more of an idea!Canon Compliant | Canon Divergent

To participate as a prompter (aka without writing a fic yourself) all you have to do is submit a prompt! (Guidelines can be found on the Prompting page of this site)Q. Do I have to be a writer to submit a prompt?
→ A. No! Anyone can submit a prompt as long as they have an AO3 account with which to do so.
Q. Do I have to submit a prompt to claim and write a fic?
→ A. No! Anyone can claim and write for a prompt as long as they have an AO3 account with which to do so.
Q. Are multi chaptered fics allowed?
→ A. Yes. At least the first full chapter must be finished to the minimum word count and posted by the deadline.
Q. Is there a minimum or maximum word count?
→ A. The minimum word count is 1000 words. There is no maximum word count.
Q. Can I post an update to an already published work?
→ A. No. For the purpose of this event, all works submitted must be a story that has never been publicly posted before. However, if you have a fic written that's only been posted on a site like Patreon for paid supporters to view, you may submit that as it has not previously been public.
Q. Can I talk about my fic to hype it up?
→ A. Absolutely! But please be as vague as possible, so as not to spoil the surprise. Sharing your work privately with a beta-reader or close friends before sharing with the fest is allowed, but please keep in mind that the more people you share it with, the less of a surprise it will be!
Q. Can I post WIPS of my fic to hype it up?
→ A. You may post small snippets of your work as long as it's not something that gives the plot or any surprises away. Again, keep it as vague as possible!
Q. Are all ships allowed?
→ A. All ships within BTS are welcome. We encourage all ship dynamics, poly ships, platonic ships, anything goes. We only ask that your fic does not mainly focus on BTS x Non-BTS relationships.
Q. I'm not sure if my prompt counts as canon compliant, what should I do?
→ A. You can send us a message on Bluesky and tells us your prompt idea!

→ A. No. With the exception of self-prompts, We only allow one claim per prompt. If a prompt receives more than one claim, all claims after the first one will be removed.
Q. Can I claim my own prompt?
→ A. Yes you may claim your own prompt. However, if you post your prompt and someone else claims it before you, they will be given the prompt. To avoid this we suggest claiming one of the self-prompt slots instead of directly posting and claiming your own prompt.
Q. Will there be any check-ins?
→ A. No, there will be no check-ins. This fest aims to be very laid back in terms of requirements, for both the sake of the participants and the mods.
Q. What do I do if I need to drop out / How do I drop a claim?
→ A. All you have to do is fill out the drop out form. We'll handle everything else.
Q. What if I can't finish my work by the deadline or need an extension?
→ A. If you want or need an extension, please DM us on Bluesky and we'll sort something out.
Q. Do you provide beta reading to participants?
→ A. Unfortunately we are unable to provide beta reading.
Q. Will you be sending out confirmation emails for successful prompt claims?
→ A. We wont be sending out confirmations that your claim was successful. We will only contact you if there's a problem with your claim or it's been removed (e.g.; if you've claimed more than 3 prompts, or someone else claimed a prompt before you). This means that as soon as you have claimed the prompt on AO3 AND sent the claim form, you can consider it yours and start writing.

Prompting Guidelines

How to submit a prompt:

  1. Go to https://archiveofourown.org/collections/BTS_CCFest_S3

  2. On the left hand side, click 'Prompt Form'

  3. Title, Fandom, Relationships, and Rating are optional to fill out. The only fandom allowed is 방탄소년단 | Bangtan Boys | BTS and this should be entered if you want to enter relationship tags as it helps AO3 give you the right tag suggestions!

  4. Include the following in the 'Description' section: Do Want: (list anything you absolutely want in your fic, for example, the ship, any dynamics, kinks, etc) Do Not Want: (list anything you absolutely do not want included. For example, certain dynamics, kinks, etc) Prompt Description: (your prompt idea description goes here)

  5. The 'Semi-anonymous Prompt?' checkbox removes your username from the prompt, this is optional, but is on by default. If you want people to know you're the prompted, uncheck this box. AO3 warns that this is not a 100% garuantee that no one will know you prompted this, and is still guessable in some places.

  6. If you want to submit multiple pompts, hit the 'Add another request? (Up to 10 allowed.)' button and repeat steps 3 to 5.

  7. Once you're done, hit 'Submit', and your prompts will be posted!
